The Belvedere Academy
A group of enthusiastic students from The Belvedere Academy in Liverpool are working with Neil and Kate from the IBI Taylor Young Group's Liverpool office to redesign the High Park Street Reservoir in the Toxteth area of Liverpool. A former Grade II listed water storage the building offers a very unusual design challenge, with a large internal space designed to hold vast quantities of water and a roof from which you can see fantastic views of the city. The group are thinking carefully about how their designs could work to benefit the local community as well as drawing people into the area.
This creative group of 16 students are currently studying a mix of subjects at A-level, including humanities, arts and sciences, and are interested in a variety of aspects relating to architecture. They are exploring the ways in which the building can be reused, altered and ultimately contribute to the local community as well as individual businesses, with a range of clients who are focused on social enterprise, education and arts.
Students have taken part in workshops that have included a site visit, design workshops, presentation skills sessions and model making.IBI TaylorYoung Practice Profile
