Walking Tours

Walking Tours

Hidden Liverpool walking tours offered a chance to hear some of the stories and memories shared by the public, that bring the empty buildings to life. Our Walking Tours offered an accessible way to learn about the built and social heritage of Liverpool. Commencing in Spring 2014, the walking tours were led by our volunteers with a passion for heritage and the built environment. Our first, ‘Love, Marriage and Dancing’ taking in memories of the riverfront and business district was devised and led by Rachel Heath. The route took in India Buildings, Martins Bank and State Insurance Building, which housed the Sate Ballroom where many romantic relationships began! Our second tour devised and led by Mona Devereau took place in July. Entitled 'Hope Springs Eternal' participants enjoyed a host of facts and stories from Mona on the surroundings and key empty buildings of Hope Street such as the old blind school, Wellington Rooms on Mount Pleasant and old Futurist and Forum cinemas of Lime Street, ending up at the Lyceum on Bold St
